Recording starts on your first pad hit (or after a one-bar count-in when the metronome is on). Record again to layer on top of what's there. Keys: R or Enter = record, Space = play/stop. On the Launchpad, the top two round buttons on the right do the same. Stopping also stops any looping pads.

Hits: drag to move in time, or up and down to another row's pad; drag the right edge to resize; double-click empty space to add. Alt ignores the grid. Rows: M mutes, S solos — for playback and export. Select: drag a box over hits, Shift-click to add or remove one, or drag along the bar ruler to grab everything in that stretch. Selected hits move together; ⌘C / ⌘V / ⌘D copy, paste at the green line, duplicate. Repeats: drag along the ruler, then "Repeat section" — it plays that stretch that many times before moving on (click the ×N badge to change it). Start point: click the ruler to set the green line; Play and Record begin there. Red line = end, drag it.
